Ian Harris

Ian Harris is an Orthopaedic surgeon in practice in Sydney and an academic specialising in clinical research.

He has Masters degrees in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Data Science, and a PhD in surgical epidemiology. Prof Harris has published over 400 papers, given over 100 invited lectures and achieved $65M in grant funding.

His research includes clinical trials and evidence reviews focussing on the effectiveness of surgical procedures. He also has considerable registry experience, folding the ACORN patient-reported outcome arthroplasty registry, cofounding and co-chairing the ANZ Hip Fracture Registry from 2012 to 2022 and as Deputy Director of the AOA National Joint Replacement Registry from 2015 to 2022, where he has been involved in several registry-nested clinical trials.
