Steven Tong

Professor Steven Tong is an infectious diseases physician and clinical trialist.

Steven trained in infectious diseases in Melbourne (2004-2005) and Darwin (2006) and was awarded a PhD from the Menzies School of Health Research/Charles Darwin University in 2010. His post-doctoral training took him to Duke University, North Carolina (2011) and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Cambridge in the UK (2012).

He is co-head of Clinical and Health Services Research at the Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity at the University of Melbourne. And co-leads the Staphylococcus aureus Network Adaptive Platform (SNAP) trial and the Australasian COVID-19 Trial (ASCOT).

Steve likes running, reading, podcasts and supporting the Hawthorn Football club.
